PBX/Registration Tech

DEFINITION:
An individual responsible for the registration of patients accepts payments, obtaining insurance authorizations, verification and/or notification, assuring all information pertinent to the Billing process is obtained.
Provides explanation of hospital policies and services and handles routine patient/guest inquires and problems.
KNOWLEDGE:
Current knowledge of HIS as it relates to admissions, registration and billing.
Must type 35 wpm, basic computer knowledge and skills.
Experience working with Word, Excel and the Internet.
Familiarity with medical terms.
SKILLS:
Reading, writing and clear verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate with public in a courteous manner.
Prompt, efficient and accurate handling of admissions.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 years experience in a customer service filed, medical front office preferred.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or GED required.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
