Patient Access Registration Lead Tech

DEFINITION:
Position will act as a resource for patient access staff, answering questions related to workflow, resolving operational issues that may arise in the absence of the department Manager or Director.
This employee will act as a role model for patient access staff.
Position will demonstrate and exemplify excellent customer service skills that are expected by Patient Access and promote these skills in the work area.
This position will ensure that department productivity and quality expectations are met in the work area.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Technical direction and support for all patient access admissions, registration and/or scheduling functions (e.
g.
, scheduling, pre-registration, registration, financial clearance, financial counseling) to maintain daily operations of the area and for the department KNOWLEDGE:
Current knowledge of in-house computer system regarding scheduling, admission, registration and billing as it relates to scheduling, admissions and registration Strong knowledge of insurances and insurance estimator product.
Understands and is able to explain insurance eligibility system.
SKILLS:
Must type 35 wpm.
Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Experience with Word, Excel and the Internet.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Reading, writing and clear verbal communications skills.
Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Prompt, efficient and accurate handling of admissions.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience in Hospital Admissions and/or ER Registration office.
1 year in a supervisory position preferred.
Knowledge of the HIS and operation of the Admissions/Registration offices.
Demonstrated ability to use Windows based applications.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or GED required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
